Powerful Tools for Caregivers

We know caregiving can be stressful at times.  Missoula Aging Services offers Powerful Tools for Caregivers.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is based on the highly successful Chronic Disease Self-Management Program developed by Dr. Kate Lorig and her colleagues at Stanford University’s Patient Education Research Center.   Research studies find caregivers often feel that they have no control over events, and that feeling of powerlessness has a significant negative impact on caregivers’ physical and emotional health.  Caregivers who have taken the six-week class report that applying the tools has made a positive difference in their ability to manage stress and emotions, and to communicate more effectively with family members and health care providers.

The class meets for 6 consecutive weeks.  If you wish to attend one of the classes, please contact Missoula Aging Services at your earliest convenience as space is limited.  Please note that future class dates and times will be advertised in our quarterly Connections newsletter and on our website.    https://www.missoulaagingservices.org/news-events/events-classes/calendar-month/2015/01#calendar

Starting this fall, there will be a new way for people to buy quality, affordable
health insurance: the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Health Insurance
Marketplace, created by the Affordable Care Act, will be a one-stop location
for consumers to learn about their health insurance options.
